Our club started in the year 1986 and completed its Glorious
years of Humantarian Services. We the members of the Lions Club of Brahmaputra Valley, Dist 322 D are running a school for Spastic Children under the name 'BLESSING' since 1989 registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 in the year 1986 and Eye Bank under the name ‘LIONS DRISHTI EYE BANK’ since 2008 life member of Eye Bank Association of India. The Eye Care Centre has a regular OPD since 25 years and we have conducted more than 7000 Free IOL operation with the help of Dist. Blindness Control Society & own.
Being encouraged by fellow citizens we have established an Eye Hospital at our Lions Care Centre Building, at Dibrugarh. It is named as 'LION K K SAHARIA EYE HOSPITAL', as an honour & tribute to our Charter President & Past Dist. Governor, Dist 322D Lion MJF K K Saharia.
To run the Hospital smoothly we have formed a Trust under the name 'Dibrugarh Lions Brahmaputra Foundation' and all contributions are exempted under Section 80 (G) of the IT Act. We have engaged a fully professional team under the leadership of a highly qualified eye specialist, Dr. Arundhati Tamuli, MS, Dr. Eli Chelleng,D.O., Dr. Divya Singh, D.O. and our club member Lion Dr. Ramesh Agarwall, MS is guiding us on a regular basis.
Aim of the hospital is to provide free check-ups, treatment and cataract operation (IOL) to persons who cannot afford to pay. On behalf of all the members of our Club & Trustee of the Foundation, a true and dedicated service is assured.
We have already made an investment of 60 lacs for the Building construction and another 75 Lacs (total $ 2.7 Lakhs) for procurement of Equipments. Mr. Paban Singh Ghatowar, Member of Parliament being very impressed with the Hospital recently donated a Mobile van to the hospital from MP LADS fund.
